Manaslu
is one of the recently opened areas for trekking with limited number of
tourists each year. The passing through Larkya La Pass (5153m) cuts behind
the Manaslu massif offers some of the finest trekkings in the Himalayan
wilderness. We commence the trek from Gorkha and trek up the wild Buri
Gandaki River through rough gorges slicing between Himchuli (7890m) and
Ganesh (7429m). The trek is geographically spectacular and culturally
fascinating. The views of Manslu and other neighboring peaks are spectacular
from Larkya La Pass. Much of this trek is in a region of strong Tibetan
influence. The inhabitants of upper Buri Gandaki region are Nupri, who
are direct descendants of Tibetan immigration. Buddhist prayer flags and
chortens are abundant in the region.
